East Bernstadt Elementary School

Principal's Message

EBIS Principal

Susan Elza

Welcome to East Bernstadt Independent School, home of the Wildcats, where “It’s about the Future of Kids.”  Our mission is to “Educate all students and build lifelong learners who are inspired to be their best while striving for success.”  We serve grades preschool through eighth grade with currently a little over 500 students.  This is our sixth year in our new elementary building, and our middle school and library are getting ready to be renovated this fall.  We are so excited for all the new renovations!

Each of our classrooms is equipped with interactive Smartboards and several devices (IPADs or chromebooks) so that students can access online programs.  Classrooms in grades 4th-8th have a classroom set of IPADS or chromebooks, so with two computer labs, students are able to enhance skills and content by using computer programs such as Reading Eggs, I READY, Reading Plus, Moby Max, Accelerated Reader, and Study Island.  All students have a scheduled time to visit the computer lab on at least a weekly basis.

The faculty and staff at East Bernstadt School are committed to providing a safe and positive environment for all students.  This is my sixth year as principal and twentieth year in education.  I am honored and privileged to work with such a dedicated staff.  Every decision we make is to ensure success for each individual student.   As Principal, I welcome parent volunteers, and I encourage family and community involvement in our school.  By working together, we make East Bernstadt School a great place to learn!
